Defaults show a 100 foot driveway, 12 feet wide, with 4 inches of top stone. Weight per yard varies by stone, moisture and supplier, so treat tons as an estimate and confirm with us before ordering.

How the math works

Length x width x depth (in feet) gives cubic feet. Divide by 27 for cubic yards. Stone is often sold by the ton, so multiply yards by the weight per yard for that material.

Base and top

A new driveway usually needs a base layer of larger stone plus a top layer of finer stone. Run the calculator once for each layer. See our gravel driveway guide for how we build them.
